David Scott Pennington peacefully passed away in his sleep sometime in the early morning of October 2, 2025. David was born on January 7, 1961 in San Angelo, Texas. I can only imagine the surprise on his parents faces, William Herbert Pennington and Marilyn Joy Pennington as he entered heaven gate just in time for breakfast, I am sure those eggs were cooked to perfection.
David loved family, his two greatest accomplishments in life were his children Justin David of Tampa, Florida and Abigail Colleen of Anna,Texas. The light of his life was his granddaughter Kennedy Ann.
David is survived by his older brother Randy Pennington and wife Lisa, of Anna, Texas. His younger brother James Pennington and wife Carrie, of Tyler, Texas. His niece Sarah Elizabeth Pennington, Tampa, Florida. Nephews Preston Pennington and wife Katie of Anna, Texas and Richard Pennington and wife Emily of Pennsylvania. He was known as Uncle DaDa by his great nephews Travis and Colton and niece Charlotte.
David’s heart was huge and included his godchildren Shannon McCoy-Martin, Grant Grogan and children Tristen, Dakota and Jacob. Ryan and Brittnay McCoy and Frankie Carrizales. His best friend and champion for years Belinda Pennington.
David was a master carpenter and craftsman. He loved working with his hands. David worked for years installing draperies with his dad in San Angelo. Later installing custom shutters. Eventually, making custom cornices and headboards for model homes. Even as a little boy he could be found out in the shed with his grandpa Jack tinkering on something. One of David’s pleasures was camping and floating the river in Garner State Park. His second love was NASCAR he could watch it for hours on end and tell you facts and details about every driver.
David was not a man of many words, but once he got started, he would talk with arms flying. He could never say no to a stray dog either. I am pretty sure that is why he was so skinny, from feeding them under the table when no one was looking.
David will be greatly missed around here in more ways than one.
