Mike Angel Hernandez, 67, went to be with the Lord on Monday September 29,2025. Mike was born on September 29, 1958 in San Antonio, Texas to Macario Favar and Celia Hernandez.
Mike attended St. Mary’s Catholic School along with his siblings until its closure. Mike was a lifelong Bobcat! Graduating from San Angelo Central High School in 1976. He was the quarterback of the football team at Edison Jr High in 1972-1973. While at Edison he was also Mr. Crimson Tide. That year he was also honored by the Downtown Optimist Club the honor was a part of the club’s annual Youth Appreciation Week. He was recognized for participating and playing basketball, being on the track team and as he would say “my pride of tide” was being captain of the Crimson Tide Football Team. This is what branded him a lifelong fan of the game and supporter of the teams that encouraged him to strive for greatness.
Mike lived his life as a man of his word! He was a beloved Son, Brother, Father, Grandfather, and Friend. He had several talents and hobbies. Mike could make a room laugh from his jokes and could fix anything. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and learning from life experiences. He was never afraid to try something new.
He is survived by his partner Dora Ortiz of San Angelo, Texas. His children Michael Hernandez (Martiza) of San Angelo, Texas, Blanca Hernandez of San Angelo, Texas, Grandchildren Nevaeh De Hoyos, Nikolai Hernandez, Nova-Lee Hernandez-Maldonado all of San Angelo, Texas. His siblings Joe Hernandez (Dr. Sylvia Soto Hernandez), Blanca E. Hernandez, and sister-in-law Monette H. Molinar. Nephew David Joseph Romero. Life long best friend Mary Hernandez. His Partner's Family; Rogiero Ortiz, Adaliz Ortiz, Héctor Ortiz, Sebastián Ortiz, Rodolfo Ortiz, Britni Ortiz, Anaya Ortiz, Noah Ortiz, Ricardo Ortiz, Gabriel Ortiz, And his faithful dog Colt.
He was preceded in death by his parents Macario Hernandez and Celia Hernandez. His brother Frank E. Hernandez.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025 in the Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel 435 W Beauregard Ave at 2:00 PM. Inurnment to follow at Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Garden 4989 FM Highway 1223, San Angelo, TX 76905.
