Carla Jane Gerber Hodges, age 74, of San Angelo, Tx, formerly of Texarkana, Tx passed away on August 2, 2025. She was born on May 22, 1951, in Texarkana, Tx, and carried the spirit and strength of her East Texas roots throughout her life.
Carla was a graduate of Liberty-Eylau class of 1969. Carla was a gifted ceramicist who found joy in creating beauty with her hands. She worked closely with her dear friend Fran Rohnbach in San Angelo Tx, forming not just art, but a lasting bond of friendship and creativity. Her creations were often gifted to those she loved, each piece a reflection of her generous and thoughtful spirit.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, James Michael Hodges of San Angelo, Tx; her mother, Iris Trunell Gerber of Texarkana Tx; four brothers, Gary Gerber (Cheryl) of Midlothian Tx, Randal Gerber (Jane) of Texarkana, Tx, Keith Gerber (Dottie) of Waco Tx, and Kevin Gerber of Texarkana, Tx; and her sister, Patti Pilgreen (Richard) of Texarkana, Tx. She also leaves behind two beloved grandchildren, Colin Searcy and Savanna Searcy, both of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and sixteen nieces and nephews who were blessed by her warmth, laughter, and love.
Carla was preceded in death by her father, Carl Gerber, and her cherished daughter, Carrie Michelle.
Known as a true friend to many, Carla’s life was filled with kindness, creativity, and a deep devotion to her family. She loved deeply and was deeply loved in return.
