Jackson "Jack" Wright, 84, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at his home in San Angelo surrounded by family.
Mr. Wright was born January 16, 1941 in Centralia, Illinois to Ed and Morene Wright. Jack grew up in Louisiana and Texas. Jack was a 1959 graduate of Kermit High School. After graduation he attended college at Texas Tech University, graduating with a business degree in 1965. While at Texas Tech Jack married his sweetheart, Sharon Hall, in Tulia. Jack was a veteran of the US Airforce and after his active-duty service he served in an Air Force Reserve Unit. After his military service, Jack worked for Axelson and various other oil field service companies in sales and management. Jack's work took him many places and provided him with new friends and experiences. Along with his family they lived in North Dakota, Louisiana, Texas, Colorado, and Alaska. They settled in San Angelo in 2001, where he "almost" retired. They then bought and operated a cabin rental business in the Colorado mountains for a few years.
Jack will be remembered for all his quiet strength and devotion to his family and providing them with a stable and happy home. He was a loving husband, dad, and grandfather. some of the things he enjoyed most was time spent with family camping, fishing, and just visiting. Jack enjoyed good music, playing his guitar, loved playing golf, woodworking in his shop and was an avid football fan. He endured several health problems in the years before his passing, but he fought the good fight and never gave up.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Sharon; his two daughters, Lauri Hershey and husband Mike, and Kim Wright-Holman; a brother, Bill Wright and wife Cathy; a sister-in-law, Wilma Wright; five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Tom Wright, and a son-in-law, Michael Holman.
Jack's wish was to be cremated, and his ashes joined with Sharon's at the time of her passing and then be scattered by his family. A gathering with family of remembrances will be scheduled at a later date.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice of San Angelo for all their help and support during this time.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Wounded Warriors or Meals for the Elderly in San Angelo.
