John Adam Garcia, 65, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025 with his family by his side.
Private services will be held at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Mr. Garcia was born on August 9, 1959 in San Angelo to Ernesto and Margarita Olveda Garcia. Adam graduated from San Angelo Central High School. He enjoyed playing the cello and the trumpet. John and some friend had a house band named Believe it or Not and his biggest groupies were his family. He married Janie Contreras on July 23, 1988. He was a plumber for Richard Flores Plumbing Company and then went to work for the City of San Angelo. At the City of San Angelo he started out as a laborer and worked his way up to a construction inspector. He retired in 2017 after 40 years of service.
Although his formal education was limited to high school, he continued to learn to the point that friends and family said he was an engineer without the degree. The running joke was "Adam checked out the book"; which meant with the instructions he could figure anything out.
He was a funny, easy-going, helpful, and wonderful husband, brother, and friend. Adam loved fishing, but could mostly be found in his cooking area. He made his own sauces, rubs, recipes and even his own charcoal. He will be missed by all.
He is preceded in death by his father, and brother-in-law, Jamie Bacca.
Adam is survived by his wife, Janie of the home; 2 sisters, Mary Ann Price of San Angelo and Connie Baca of Grand Prairie; a brother, Ernest Garcia of San Angelo; his mother, Margarita Garcia of San Angelo, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Maryellen Montelongo and husband Freddie of San Angelo, Joe Contreras and wife, Debra, and Virginia Cook all of San Angelo; 15 nieces and nephews; 15 great nieces and nephews; and a great-great nephew.
