James “Jim” Earl Bright, 74, of San Angelo, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025. Born on May 18, 1951, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jim was the beloved son of Ralph and Nellie Bright.
A proud graduate of Central High School’s Class of 1970, Jim went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Angelo State University. He dedicated his career to serving students as a Special Education teacher with San Angelo Independent School District.
In May of 1970, Jim married the love of his life, Ginger Arnn. Together they raised twin sons, Jason and Chris, creating a home filled with love and laughter.
Jim served faithfully as a Scout Master with the Boy Scouts and was a member of the Optimist Club. His faith was central to his life; he was a devoted member of Sierra Vista Methodist Church, where he participated in the Wednesday Men’s Bible Study and supported the youth ministry. In his spare time, he also enjoyed photography.
Known for his generosity and kind heart, Jim will be remembered as a Godly man, a loving husband, and a devoted father.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, James “Chris” Bright; his brother, Ralph I. “Rib” Bright II; and his sister, Jo Caroll.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Ginger Bright; his son, Jason Bright; his granddaughter, Lilliann Moody and her husband Daniel; his great-granddaughter, Skylar Marie Moody; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 27, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Johnson’s Funeral Home. A celebration of Jim’s life will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Sierra Vista Methodist Church, followed by interment at Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
