Betty Jo Varner, age 95, of San Angelo, Texas passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
She was born on July 2, 1929 in Crane, TX to Vernon Gilbert Hunt and Pauline Hunt. Betty attended Overton High School and graduated in the class of 1945. She married Jimmie Varner on April 3, 1948 and had two children. Betty was a proud member of the San Angelo Genealogical and Historical Society and had a passion for family history and will always be remembered for her love of family, grandkids, great-grandkids, reading, and working in her yard.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Varner; parents, Vernon Gilbert and Pauline Hunt; and her brothers, Pete Hunt, Jack Hunt, Billy Ross Hunt, Thomas Hunt, and Joe Pat Hunt.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Diana Krug (Robert) of Denton, TX and James Varner (Jan) of Andrews, TX; grandchildren, Karen King (Mike), Brook Varner (Jessica), Luke Varner (Whitney); great grandchildren, Alex, Colin, Campbell, Hudson, Walker, Emma, and Tate; siblings, Bob Hunt, Don Hunt (Deloris), Sue Havins, Mary Kull, and Molly Pruitt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a memorial donation to the San Angelo Genealogical and Historical Society.
A visitation for Betty will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Johnson's Funeral Home, 435 West Beauregard, San Angelo, TX 76903. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 435 West Beauregard, San Angelo, TX 76903. A reception will take place immediately following the funeral service.
