Carol Sue La Fon, 81, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2025. Born in Childress, Texas, on February 26, 1944, she was the beloved daughter of Fred and Eva Ruth Norman.
Carol attended High School in Iowa Park, Texas. Around this time, she met and eventually married the love of her life, Raymond La Fon. As the devoted wife of a military serviceman, she embraced the challenges of a life marked by change and adaptability. Throughout the years, Carol held various jobs. In San Angelo, she proudly ran her own upholstery business and later worked at Walmart, retiring in 2011 following a cancer diagnosis.
Carol found joy in life’s simple pleasures—cheering on the Dallas Stars and Texas Rangers, spending time in her backyard taking care of the wild birds, keeping them well fed, and playing games with loved ones. She was known for her creativity, especially in crafting, and was admired for her exceptional skills in both cooking and upholstery.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond La Fon; her parents, Fred and Eva Norman; her brother and sister-in-law, Freddie and Sherry Norman; her in-laws, Howard and June La Fon; brothers-in-law Milton La Fon and Anton Blake; and her son-in-law, Mark Domingue.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Gayla Backe and husband Ross, Kim Domingue, and Marla Wimberley and husband James. Carol is also survived by her grandchildren: Brandy Stevens (Casey), Amanda Puntasecca (Joey), Ryan Wimberley (Megan), Brittany Hadfield (Jackson), and Tyler Wimberley (Josh); and her great-grandchildren: Beckham, Jaxson, Jordan, Kendall, Lincoln, Phoenix, Kamrynn, Grayson, Kanyon, and Stella. She also leaves behind her siblings: Leon Norman (Loretta), Judy Mitchell (Jimmy), Jan Revier (J.B.), and Steve Norman (Shannon), along with many nieces and nephews who will always carry her memory in their hearts.
Carol’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Sagecrest for the exceptional care they provided during her time there.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization dear to Carol’s heart.
