Russell Roy Harris, also known as Odie Roy by those who loved him passed away the evening of Friday, June 6, 2025. Odie was born on January 12, 1947 to Lee Roy and Annie Mae Horeis Harris in San Angelo, Texas.
Russell graduated from Lake View High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army. Earning the rank of Sergeant in the 9th Division and serving from 1966 to 1968 with one tour in Vietnam in the Mekong Delta. Upon his return to his civilian life, he went on to have a successful 40 plus year career working in the oil industry. A career that would allow him to travel to Canada, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Oman, and many states across America.
Odie was married to Theresa Rouse and had one beautiful daughter, Risa Rose. He later married Janet Proctor and the two spent many wonderful years together with their loving dogs and combined families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy and Annie Mae Harris; his wife, Janet; his daughter, Risa Rose Burns; his infant sister, Reba Jane; his brother, Ronald Lee, and his nephew, Buddy.
Odie is survived by his brother, Ross and sister-in-law, Libby; his sister, Rena and husband Joe Collie; his stepdaughter, Tracy and husband Steve Conley; his grandchildren, Jerry Don Burns, Savannah Hobson, Paris Taylor, Cash Conley, and Berlin Conley; and three great grandchildren with one more on the way. He is also survived by nieces Shelley, Julie, Lindsay and nephew Ricky.
The family would like to send a special "Thank You" to Shelley Harris for taking care of and tending to Odie for the last year.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 6-7 pm at Johnson's Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens at 10 am on Friday, June 13, 2025.
