Dorothy Irene Ray Burrell, 95, went to be with the Lord on June 4, 2025. Dorothy was born on November 17, 1929, in San Angelo, Texas, to Truett and Lois Ray. She married Herb Burrell on April 11, 1948, in San Angelo, Texas. They celebrated 61 wonderful years together loving and supporting each other.
Her presence brought warmth, strength, and unwavering faith to all who knew her. A true woman of grace, her life was a testament to service, love, and devotion. She wore many titles—each one with humility and care—but her most treasured role was that of a nurturer. Children were always at the center of her heart. Whether she was guiding her own children, loving on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, or pouring into the lives of young people in her community and church, her heart was a wellspring of compassion and wisdom. Her hands were never idle; they were constantly tending—to gardens, to hearts, to homes. She had the ultimate green thumb, growing beauty wherever she went, both in soil and in souls. What she planted, God grew. Her faith in the Lord was unshakable. She lived her life as a reflection of His love. Whether teaching, comforting, encouraging, or simply being present, she was a vessel of His grace and mercy. Her church was more than a place of worship; it was where she labored joyfully, pouring herself into ministries and the lives others, especially children and their families. Her love continues to bloom in the hearts of her family and all who had the blessing of crossing her path. Well done, good and faithful servant. You have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith.
