Vernon L. Howell, 87, of San Angelo, Texas passed away on May 10, 2025.
Vernon was born on July 31, 1937 in WIchita, Kansas to Lela and Richard Howell. He served the United States Army for 23 years as a Supply Sergeant where he fought in Vietnam and ended his career at the Honorable rank of E8-Master Sergeant. Vernon and his family lived in Germany twice during his tenure which allowed them to visit many other countries during their stay.
Vernon met his wife Elizabeth (Betty) on his first tour of duty in San Antonio, and together in their 60 years of marriage, they supported a number of charities and enjoyed making toys for the less fortunate children in their community. Together with his wife, they were an awesome unstoppable force, and they will truly be missed by many.
Vernon is preceded in death by his loving wife Elizabeth in November 2020.
He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Donna Howell Rickard of Houston, Texas, Daniel Lee Howell of El Paso, Texas, David Lawrence Howell of Pflugerville, Texas, and Diana Lynn Collins of Katy, Texas. Grandfather of 7 to Devin Colter, Belinda Roper, David Colter, Brandi Collins, Eric Howell, Katy Howell, and Samantha Howell and his 6 great-grandchildren, Dominic, Elyjah, Alexandrea, Jaelyn, Dakota, and Denver.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
