William L. Watkins, 75, of Big Spring, TX passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. He was born on October 18, 1949 in San Angelo, TX to James and Patsy Watkins. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he served honorably as a military police officer and K-9 handler, carrying out his duties with loyalty and integrity.
After his military service, William returned to the land he loved and built a life rooted in agriculture. He made his home near Waco, Texas, where he spent his days showing cattle—never happier than when he was out under the open sky. Even on the hardest days, being among the cattle brought William peace and purpose.
He was a man who lived life on his own terms—strong-willed, fiercely loyal, and full of heart. Known for his storytelling and sharp sense of humor, William never missed an opportunity to make others laugh. He worked hard, played harder, and most evenings found him right where he loved to be: on the front porch, a cold beer in hand, watching the sun dip behind the trees.
William loved his family above all else and gave of himself freely—if you needed help, he’d give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. He had a heart of gold and a spirit that touched everyone lucky enough to know him. William will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who loved him.
William was preceded in passing by his parents, James and Patsy Watkins; and wife, Marie Clutts.
William's survivors include his brother, Johnny Pat Watkins and family; daughters, Tobi Sue Davis and husband Eric Calhoun, and Kelly Watkins Moore and husband Gary; step-daughter, Elizabeth Sellers and husband Michael; grandson, Colby Calhoun; and step-grandchildren, Amanda, Bryleigh, Corbin, and Willow Sellers.
