Reda Lou Templin Echols, 82, of San Angelo Texas, went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, Saturday, April 26, 2025. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday May 9, 2025, at Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo. Reda’s Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2025 in Johnson’s Funeral Chapel. Graveside service will follow at Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, and then a catered reception back at Johnson’s Funeral Home.
Mom requested a celebration of life and asked for those who can to wear bright happy colors to celebrate her arrival in heaven. Pastor Ryan Owens from Redeemer Church will be officiating. Reda was born on November 13, 1942, in Coleman County, Texas, to Walter Herman Templin and Lillian Beatrice Simpson Templin. On August 12, 1982, she married Richard “Dick” Durwin Echols, of Lamesa, Texas. They lived in Lamesa for 29 years and were members of First Assembly of God. Two of Reda’s favorite pastimes were watching the Dallas Cowboys and Christian television. She was most known for her love of Jesus, faithfully sharing Him with others. Reda was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her brother Walt Templin and wife Carolyn of San Angelo TX, brother Troy Templin and wife Gwen of Austin TX, and sister Linda Templin Landers of San Angelo TX; prior husband Jim Swaringin of San Angelo TX; children Sonja Swaringin Crownover and husband Doug of Spring Branch TX, Wayne Swaringin of San Angelo TX, Crystal Swaringin Martin and husband Heydon of Allen TX, and Tisha Swaringin Davis Byrd and husband Byron of Allen TX and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded to heaven by her husband Dick; parents Walter and Lillian Templin; and grandchildren Amanda Crownover and Jeremiah Swaringin. Pallbearers will be son Wayne Swaringin, son-in-laws Heydon Martin and Byron Byrd, grandsons Oscar Favila and Stephen Swaringin, and great grandson Jaxon McAdoo.
