She was born at home in Eldorado, Texas to Leslie L. Baker and Zeila Shugart Baker on November 5, 1928. She attended school in Eldorado, Tx graduating from Eldorado High School and attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX. She met A.G. McCormack while he was working on a “doodle-bug” crew in Eldorado and they were married in the First Presbyterian Church on November 19, 1949. Danell’s membership in the First Presbyterian Church was a very important part of her life as they raised their three sons Karl, Kyle and Keith in the church. She served as a Sunday School teacher, church treasurer and was an active member of the Women’s Circle. While the boys were in school, the McCormack’s never missed a little league game, football game, basketball game, track meet or band contest. She served as a room mother, helped with meals for school events and worked in numerous concession stands. Danell was a teller at the First National Bank of Eldorado for nearly 40 years. She loved to entertain and did a beautiful job. Known for her impeccable appearance, her shoes, jewelry and attire were always a perfect match! After she and A.G. retired, they delivered meals on wheels and remained active in the community. Someone once asked her why she and A.G. didn’t have their meals delivered and she explained that Meals on Wheels was for old people and they were not old!
