Samuel Albert Green, Jr. of San Angelo passed away on April 11, 2025 at the age of 85. He was born on April 28, 1939 in Crystal City, TX to Samuel Albert Green, Sr. and Elnora Green.
Samuel attended Central High School and graduated in 1959. After graduating, he joined the Marine Corp where he ranked as Corporal. He married Marjorie Ross on June 1, 1962 and together they had 3 children.
Samuel was a proud member of the Lions Club where he was a lifetime member. He was also a member of the Texas National Bowling Association. He loved to bowl. Additionally, Samuel was a member of the American Legion along with several other organizations. He worked at Mitsubishi Aircraft where he was an airplane mechanic. During his career, Samuel made a plane for Bill Cosby. He was also a machine mechanic at Ethicon. In his younger days, Samuel was a football coach for the YMCA.
Samuel was a proud member of the Baha'i faith. He was the national spokesman for the Baha'i faith and the chairman of the Baha'is of San Angelo. If you asked him how he was doing, he would always say "simply marvelous". He also had a special kind of love for honey buns - his favorite snack.
Samuel was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie Green, his parents, Samuel & Elnora Green, and his sisters, Virginia, Novella, Bertha, & Delnora.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Detra Harris, Charles Green (Karen) and Gabriel Green (Jackie), grandchildren, LaCresha Harris, Shuntaya Butler (Stephen), Micheal Harris, Stephen Green (Ariel), Joshua Green, Katherine Muncey and Kai Green, and great-grandchildren, Zoriah, Anthony, Anyssa, Darrell, Kai'Lyrise, Kylyric, Mya, Yuel, Harlem, Jaliyah and Jayven. Also left to cherish Samuel's memory are brothers, Henry Clay Green and Lee Lewis Green, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Johnson's Funeral Home with interment to follow at Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
