Betty Sue Garmon of Wall, Texas, age 72, took her last breath on Earth and her first breath in Heaven on April 6, 2025. Betty Sue passed peacefully in her sleep at home.
Betty Sue was born on March 26, 1953 in San Antonio, to Eddie and Martha Ann Roberts. Her father passed away when she was six weeks old. Her Mother, Martha Ann, lovingly raised Betty Sue with the assistance of her Hudgeons Family and the people of Town East Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas. From these two important groups in Betty Sue’s life, came numerous cousins and lifelong friends. She was a 1971 graduate from Sam Houston High School in San Antonio, Texas
It was through a church friend that she met Jim Garmon. Jim and Betty Sue were married on June 8, 1979. Jim and Betty Sue settled in Uvalde, TX and later moved to the family home place in Wall, TX in 1988. Jim and Betty Sue were married for 37 years before Jim passed in 2016.
Betty Sue worked as a secretary at the Uvalde Chamber of Commerce. Upon moving to Wall she worked as an attendant at the Wall Co-Op Gin and later as a Teacher’s Aide at Veribest ISD. In 1994, Betty Sue started her dream job at Wall High School. Betty Sue served the students of Wall ISD as a Teacher’s Aide for 18 years until her retirement in 2012. She then served as a substitute teacher for many years. She loved the students and faculty of Wall ISD. They became her second family.
Betty Sue is survived by her son Travis Garmon, his wife Kaci, their sons Jarrett and Jensen and daughter Jai Garmon of Wall, TX; son Clayton Garmon and his wife Brittany, their daughter Kenzie and son Klaytin of Wall, TX; her special cousin and travelling buddy Geraldine Harbin of Wall, TX and numerous cousins, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years Jim Grady Garmon; her mother Martha Ann Roberts and her father Eddie Roberts.
Betty Sue was known as “Honey Bee” to her five grandchildren. She loved cheering for them at their events, travelling with them, and spoiling them at every opportunity.
Betty Sue was a long-time member of Veribest Baptist Church where she loved being a part of the Veribest Women’s Ministry. Betty Sue also enjoyed being an Aggie Mom and getting together with the Bunco Crew.
Betty Sue was a true fan of the Wall Hawks. She loved the community of Wall and truly “Bled Green”. Long after her sons had graduated, Betty Sue travelled all over the state to watch the Hawks. In honor of Betty’ Sue’s love for the Wall Hawks, the family encourages those attending her service to wear Wall Hawk Green.
Pallbearers will be Brian Halfmann, Dan Reed, Duane Killam, Donald Harbin, Houston Guy and Brandon Langdon. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Family visitation will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 am on Friday April 11, 2025 at the Wall Brethren Church with Brother Charlie Ray and Brother David Templin officiating. Burial will follow in the Wall Protestant Cemetery.
