Pedro "Pete" Velasquez, Jr., 60, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025 in San Angelo.
Public viewing will be from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM Friday, April 4, 2025, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Pete was born September 12, 1964 in Acuna, Coahuila, Mexico to Pedro and Ramona Hernandez Velasquez, Sr., he was one of 15 children. He moved to the United States with his family in 1973 in search of a better life. In 1980, Pete became a U.S. Citizen, which was an accomplishment that he was very proud of. He attended Julesburg High School in Julesburg, Colorado and graduated in 1982. Upon graduation Pete attended North Platte Community College in Nebraska and graduated in 1983. He moved to San Angelo in 1985 and started working at Hirschfeld Steel (W&W AFCO Steel) as a welder, where he was employeed for 40 years up until the time of his death.
Everyone that knew Pete would say he was a hard worker with an amazing work ethic. He was a great friend, and always took care of his family, from his parents down to his children. Pete enjoyed his garden and yard work, and always made sure they were thriving, he loved fishing, taking drives by the lake, enjoyed camping, and he found immense joy in caring for his animals and riding his horses.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Lidia Castro, San Juana Velasquez, Santa Ramona Cancino; two brothers, Jose Velasquez, and Rosendo Velasquez.
Pete is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jessica Lara; two daughters, Byanka Garcia and husband Gabriel, and Liliana Velasquez; two sons, Nicholas Velasquez and Christian Lara; seven sisters, Rosaisela Huerta, Valentina Hernandez, Amalia Saenz, Marilu Garcia, Sonia Guerrero, Slyvia Moreno, Altagarcia Quintana; two brothers, Hervey Velasquez and Efrain Velasquez; seven grandchildren, Gabriel, Jr., Dominik, Raydyn, Levi, Nolynn, Noriah and Mia Renee.
