Darrell Roy Fischer, 74, passed away on April 1, 2025, in San Angelo, TX. He was born on January 22, 1951, in San Angelo to Roy and Nadine Fischer of Mereta.
Darrell graduated from Wall High School in 1969, where he played football and was a proud member of the FFA. He went on to attend Texas State Technical Institute in Waco. He proudly served his country as a Marine during the Vietnam conflict. After his honorable discharge, he worked as a welder at Wendland Manufacturing and several places in San Angelo before beginning his long career as a civilian employee at Goodfellow Air Force Base, where he worked until his retirement.
A quiet man of strong values, Darrell cared deeply for his family. He had a special interest in the history of Old Fort Concho and was a faithful member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, where he generously contributed his time to various charity fundraisers. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He had a sweet soul and a sweet smile.
Darrell is survived by his sister, Nelda “Nell” Edmiston; brother, Jeff Fischer; sister-in-law, Deborah Fischer; nephews, Matt Fischer, Nic Fischer, and Will Edmiston; nieces, Rachel Edmiston, Renee Anderley, and Jackie Codner; eight great-nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Nadine Fischer; his brother, Rodney Fischer; and sister-in-law, Christy Fischer.
A Rosary will be recited on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. The funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, with burial to follow at St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.
