Evelyn Kreimeyer, 96, of San Angelo, entered the presence of he Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, February 14, 2025. She was born November 25, 1928 in Stuttgart, Arkansas, the 7th of eight children born to Fred and Sophie (Hesse) Kreimeyer. After completing her high school education, she began teaching in Ulm, Arkansas, attending Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska during the summers. She taught in Ulm, Perryville (Missouri), Chattanooga, and St. Louis for several years until she received a call to teach at Trinity Lutheran School in San Angelo, Texas in 1957. Except for a brief stint at a school in Monrovia, California in 1963, she made San Angelo her home, teaching and serving at Trinity for 35 years. Over those many years she taught hundreds of students demonstrating her love for each and every one. Her heart beat to not simply see students succeed and learn, but to help them understand that their value transcended any grade or classroom accomplishment - their value was that they were precious to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Evelyn bore witness to God's grace consistently and shared it with her students with joy. After retiring from teaching in 1993, she volunteered at Shannon Hospital as a Pink Lady for over 20 years. She truly lived a life of serving others.
Evelyn was truly something of a "bonus mom" for a number of her nephews and more. She was especially present with her sister Lucille's children and grandchildren for dozens of life events and holidays. When Lucille was ill or in the hospital for extended time, Evelyn would come from Texas - accent included - and substitute in Lucille's class and even sub for her when she was principal. Ever present for so many holidays, she gave so many joyfully memories of card games and conversations, car trips on family vacations, and so much love for each one of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews alike. Her willingness to sacrifice and invest in her family made her a sought after and eager part of our memories and events, from weddings, graduations, confirmations, baptisms and more. Evelyn's presence was a gift we all looked forward to and will sorely miss.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Sophie Kreimeyer, brothers Victor, Raymond, Chester, Leo, and Robert Kreimeyer and sister Lucille Dinger. She is survived by her sister Esther Stotik of Portland, Oregon and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas at 9:00 am on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 followed by her funeral service at 10:00 am. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Trinity Lutheran School of San Angelo.
