Minnis Wayne Trull, affectionately known by all as “Buddy” or “Bud,” went home to the Lord on January 18, 2025. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, Bud was 85 years old at the time of his passing.
Bud was born on July 24, 1939, to Oscar and Gertrude Trull. After graduating from Friars Point High School in Friars Point, Mississippi, Bud enlisted in the United States Airforce in February of 1958, where he proudly served his country for over twenty years. 1958 was also the year he married the love of his life, Rosie Deloris “Dee” Trull (neé Douglas). They were wed on June 15, 1958, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, lovingly remaining by each other’s side for nearly sixty-six years, until Dee’s passing in March of 2024. Together, Buddy and Deloris had three children: Robin, Rhonda and Randy.
Upon his retirement from the military, Buddy answered another calling to dedicate his life in service to God as a Southern Baptist minister. Over the course of twenty-two years, Bud served as the pastor of numerous churches, including First Baptist Church of Blackwell, TX, First Baptist Church of Carlsbad, TX, Midway Baptist Church of Vardaman, MS and finally Christoval Baptist Church of Christoval, TX, from which he retired from full time ministry in 2000. Even after retirement, though, Buddy continued to proclaim the Gospel regularly as a guest preacher in numerous churches for many more years. Everyone who knew “Brother Buddy Trull” had no doubt that his faith and dedication to Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life.
Buddy had many favorite pass times and hobbies. He was an avid sports fan who loved to watch and play all kinds of sports; he himself was nearly unbeatable at ping-pong. Bud loved music and was a gifted singer. He enjoyed carpentry, gardening, and yard work, as well as taking golf cart rides with his beloved dachshund, Bella. Above all else, Bud loved spending time with his family and his friends. He especially loved when his grandchildren would come to visit “Meems and B-Bud” during summer vacation and he would eagerly travel to visit his grandchildren and great children, especially when it meant getting to watch them play sports.
Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris Trull, his parents, his siblings, Oscar Lee, Mavis, Jamie, and Von, and his daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Trull. He is survived by his children, Robin Pearson and husband Randy, Rhonda Trull, and Randy Trull; his grandchildren, Matthew Godwin and wife Meggan, Andrew Trull, Jennifer Johnson and husband Justin, Nick Parker and wife Caren, Fr. Jeremy Trull, Connor Cheney and Brenda Chavez; his step-grandchildren Regan Pearson and Katie Hill; twelve great-grandchildren, and his brother Jimmy Trull and wife Janice.
Bud was a truly remarkable man whose life was marked by love, service, family, and faith. His family and friends are saddened by his passing, but they also rejoice that this faithful servant of God has now received his eternal reward.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M., Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Harper Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 24, 2025, at Harper Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will follow at Old Christoval Cemetery in Christoval, Texas.
