Hector Martin Rios joined our Heavenly Father in His almighty kingdom on January 15, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Hector was born on November 11, 1940, to Espiridion and Marcela Rios in Laredo, Texas. In 1960, he married Belia Guajardo. Their family grew in 1962 with the birth of their first daughter, Herlinda Rios (Danny Sanchez). Shortly after, they moved to San Angelo, Texas, where they welcomed two more children, Marcela Rios (Charles Vessell Sr.) and Hector Martin Rios Jr. (Beckie Rios). Hector dedicated 40 years of service as a Surgical Technician at Shannon Memorial Hospital, retiring in 2002.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Espiridion and Marcela Rios; his mother-in-law, Maria A. Calderon; his grandmother-in-law, Apolinia R. Arizola; his grandfather-in-law, Alberto Arizola; and his siblings, Julia Vela, Osvaldo Rios, Francisco Rios, Conrado Rios, and Rebecca Rios Gonzalez Arroyo.
Hector is survived by his beloved wife, Belia G. Rios, and his siblings, Janie Morales of Laredo, Texas; Minerva Cortez (Alberto Cortez) of Laredo, Texas; Dr. Arturo Rios of Houston, Texas; Johnny Rios of San Angelo, Texas; and Rosalinda Cruz of Laredo, Texas. His sister-in-law Elsa Guajardo (Rodolfo Guajardo) of Laredo, Texas, Rachel Calderon-Delacerda (Joe Delacerda) of Uvalde, Texas, and brother-in-law David Calderon (Terri Calderon) of Pheonix, Arizona.
A devout Catholic, Hector has been a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church since 1962, where he and his wife served as Eucharistic Ministers. Hector cherished time spent with his grandchildren: Danielle Glenn, Danny Sanchez, Gabrielle Sanchez, Brianna Sanchez, Charles Vessell Jr., Allison Thiery, Jason Vessell, Kelsey Corbin, Hector Rios III, Aliya Rios, Michael Rios, and Dasani Rios.
He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren: Elanor, Knox, Echo, Navy, Ryker, Harper, Kennedy, Michael Jae, Zane, Gianni, and Avi, who will carry forward his memory.
The pallbearers will be his grandsons: Charles Vessell Jr., Danny Sanchez, Hector Rios III, Michael Rios, Nick Barron, and Jason Vessell. The honorary pallbearers are Richard Barron, Bobby Cruz, Rich and Raymond Maresco.

The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, January 21], 2025, from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary to begin at 6:30 pm, officiated by Father Joey Faylona and Deacon Pete Madrid.
The mass will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 10:00 am, celebrated by Father Joey Faylona and Deacon Pete Madrid.
Rite of Committal and Interment will occur following the mass at Cavalry Catholic Cemetery.
