Emil D. “Ed” Nelson, age 80, passed away peacefully in his home on December 19, 2024 surrounded by family. He was born in Crosby, Minnesota to Christian and Tessie Nelson.
Ed joined the U. S. Air Force in 1961, and soon after, was stationed at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, Texas. During his service time, he served in Vietnam, Crete, Turkey, Taiwan and Germany. After 21 years of active duty, he worked at Sunset Mall as the Landscape Supervisor. He completed his career working in Energy Management for the San Angelo ISD.
He met his wife, Cathryn, when he was stationed at Goodfellow AFB for the second time. They were married for 59 years.
He was a faithful member of Belmore Baptist Church.
Ed is survived by his wife, Cathryn, and daughter, Wendy; sisters Shirley and Mable, brother-in-law, Randy; sister-in-law, Cecelia, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 8 sisters and 4 brothers.
