Jack was born to Herman and Lillie Stahl Wenetschlaeger on December 17, 1926, in Hermleigh, TX, having one older brother, Henry Wenetschlaeger. He went into the Army in 1945 and served his country two years during World War II – spending time in Italy. He married Bernice F. Halfmann, on November 20, 1950, in Olfen, TX, and farmed in the Olfen area for seven years. Jack and Bernice were blessed with three children: Nancy, Terry and Malcolm Wenetschlaeger. He worked for Ballinger Butane, Irby Oil Company and Mueller Supply Company. Meanwhile, he lost Bernice in 1980 and later married Madie C. Wooley. They lived in San Angelo for most of their happy years together (18) and he commuted to Ballinger until his retirement in 1989. Jack was blessed with Madie’s family during those years and remained close to them even after losing her in 1999.
Jack married Joan R. Rowland in 2000 – they bought a home together and lived there eighteen years. He enjoyed taking care of the home and yard, woodworking and welding in his large shop, and attended the Business Men’s Bible class for 17 years. He was at his best while attending many dances! He and Joan were members of the Western Dance Club and the Wall Polka Club for many years. He never met a stranger and loved to give “hugs”! Jack made many friends throughout his entire life. He and Joan decided to sell their home and move to a senior living complex – Christian Village in January 2018. It was just before this move that they decided to join Calvary Baptist Church. Jack made the decision to join after several visits and they became a part of the church family – enjoying many services there and getting to know the people. Bro. Bobby Roger, pastor, became a friend and mentor.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; two loving wives and one child from his first marriage, Dorothy Lane; one brother, Henry F. August Wenetschlaeger, son-in-law, Jackie Isham, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joan; daughter, Nancy Isham of Ballinger; son, Terry and wife Patty of Abilene, son, Malcolm Wenetschlaeger and partner, Sam Simpson of Abilene, three grandchildren, Heidi Sargent, Quaid Wenetschlaeger and Farryn Burkham, and four great-grandchildren; stepson, Louis Wooley of San Angelo, stepson and wife, Edde and Kay Elliott, their two daughters and 4 grandchildren, who have remained a part of Jack’s life and were very close to him and to Joan. Also, a stepson and wife, Jim and Jane Rowland and their family became a part of his life.
