Mary Lou's journey through life was shaped by her unwavering love for her family and her remarkable spirit. On December 25, 1946, she married her soulmate, Marion Rivers, in a beautiful ceremony in Matador, Texas. Together, they built a life rich with love, laughter, and lasting memories until his passing. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her devoted siblings, Dale Jackson and Joyce Jameson.
Mary Lou is lovingly remembered by her family: her daughter, Deb Babcock and her husband, James Babcock; daughter Linda Padgett; daughter Kristi Brokaw and her husband Kent; and son Craig Rivers and his wife Vivan. She was a proud grandmother to D'Dawn Fuller and her husband Jeff, Dory Cawyer, Kelci Brokaw and her husband Jon Clark, K'dee Brokaw and her husband Mercer McGuire, Keri Hamilton and her husband Tyler Hamilton, and Jarik and Conan Rivers. She adored her great-grandchildren: Clay, Hank, and Jack Fuller; Bradley and Elizabeth Hamilton; Maverick Boland; Eve Lou McGuire; and Riley Rivers.
Mary was an ardent lover of family gatherings, where laughter, love, and connection reigned supreme. She found joy in celebrating life’s simple pleasures, from swooning over Hallmark movies to piecing together beautiful puzzles. The greatest joy of her life was always being surrounded by her family, who were her pride and joy.
Mary Lou will always be remembered for her grace, integrity, and remarkably gentle spirit. She touched the lives of many and leaves behind a legacy of deep compassion and unwavering love. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of calling her mother, Granny, GG and friend. May her spirit live on in the laughter and love of those she cherished most.
As we remember Mary Lou Rivers, let us hold on to the memories she left us, filled with kindness, laughter, and unconditional love. She will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Sunday October 20, 2024, at Harper's Funeral Home from 3:00-5:00pm. Funeral services will be held Monday October 21, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Harper's Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
