Leonore Hildegard Rückert-Carter, affectionately known as "Lori" to some and "Omi" to her family, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024, surrounded by candlelight, her favorite music and loved ones.
Born on January 4, 1937, in Bad Tölz, Bavaria, Germany, she grew up with an unbreakable spirit and a love for her family that knew no bounds. Leonore often shared stories of growing up during wartime, which shaped her strength and resilience. On October 7, 1958, she married Thomas Bryan (T.C.) Carter of Buffalo, NY, in Basel-Schweiz, Switzerland. Eventually, she left her homeland and immigrated to America, proudly receiving her Certificate of Naturalization in Buffalo, NY, on April 4, 1963, to become an American citizen—something that meant a great deal to her.
Leonore and Thomas embarked on a journey together that took them across the United States, moving frequently to different military bases as they raised their five children. As a devoted wife to a serviceman, she handled the challenges of military life with resilience and grace, adapting to new places while caring for her family with love and strength.
Leonore was, in every sense, as tough as they come. Her steadfast nature made her a cornerstone of her family, and she taught her children by example about endurance, integrity, and courage. Despite the hardships of frequent moves and the uncertainties of military life, she made every house a home, creating a warm and loving environment for her family.
Above all else, Lori was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her time spent with her family.
Leonore is survived by her children: son TC Carter Jr. and wife Natalie, daughter Patti Tucker and husband Garry, daughter Lori Lentz and husband Randy, son Mike Carter, and son Sean Carter and wife Shelli. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kaitlin Lentz, Emily Lentz, Scott and Katie Tucker, Krista and Brandon Boucher, Coy Carter, Britian Carter, Chesney and Robert Aguilar, Ty Carter, Kody and Loraine Carter, Ashlynn and Caleb Hare, Allyson and Peighton Martinez, and many great-grandchildren, all of whom carry her memory in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Carter and Brother Ditter Rückert.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., Friday, October 11, 2024, at Harper funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Harper Funeral Home. The Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service will be Ty Carter, Kody Carter, Coy Carter, Peighton Martinez, Caleb Hare, and Brandon Boucher.
Though she has left us, the light she brought into our lives will never fade.
