Ronald (Randle) Thomas Harmon, age 96 passed away September 23, 2024 and is now with his dear Savior in Heaven. Randle was born July 5, 1928 in Coke county to Coke county pioneers Thomas Rudolph Harmon and Amanda Sparks Harmon. He was born on his Father's birthday. He was one of eleven siblings growing up on the family stock farm on Paint Creek west of Robert Lee, Texas. He graduated from Robert Lee High School in 1947 and played football for the Robert Lee Steers and proudly claimed to be a Coke county "rabbit twister". He worked for his brother running a bulldozer and shortly thereafter joined the United States Coast Guard where he served from 1948 until 1952.
After his service in the Coast Guard, he went to work as a "roughneck" in the oil fields with his brother-in-law Ralph Blair. After leaving the oil fields he went to work for and retired from Gandy's Creamery. He married Mary Ann Hejl on June 8, 1953 and celebrated 71 wonderful years together. Randle was a very quiet, soft spoken and very gentle-natured man who did a whole lot more listening than talking. He definitely "thought" before he talked and could come up with some very humorous and witty remarks in a conversation which delighted everyone! He enjoyed nature and was content with and enjoyed the simple things in life which included chewing tobacco from age 13.
He and his wife after retirement spent many hours visiting nursing home residents and the homebound.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; daughters, Sharon (David) Rohmfeld, Debra (Fred) Wilde, Judy (Todd) Holle; five grandchildren, Brooke Wilde, Clint Wilde, Gina (Brock) Steinbock, Travis (Kimberly) Holle, Blake (Sarah) Holle, four great grandchildren, Landon Holle, Wyatt Holle, Camille Holle and Tripp Steinbock; sister-in-laws Dorothy Harmon, Olean Stricklan, Lorene (George) Snodgrass and brother-in-law Ervin (Sue) Hejl, special cousin Marion Luther Sparks, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his parents Thomas and Amanda (Sparks) Harmon; brothers and sister-in-laws, Floyd (Jessie) Harmon, Finis (LaRue) Harmon, Crowley (Nola) Harmon, J.D. (Mary Jo) Harmon, Alf Harmon, Alfred (Ethel) Harmon, Milton (Evelyn) Harmon, Cortez Harmon and sisters and brother-in-laws Ruby Lee (Ralph) Blair; Inez (Kenneth) Harper, nephews and nieces, Jerry Harmon, Nick Harmon, Glenda (Blair) Hammond, Carolyn (Blair) Nichols, Tommy Blair and Steven Blair and infant great-granddaughter Anna Holle.
