Patricia Anna Crochet Cain, 94, was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on September 20, 2024.
Pat was born January 5,1930 to Clifford and Lena (Theriot) Crochet in San Angelo. She was the second oldest of four children. She graduated from San Angelo High School and attended San Angelo College and Angelo State University.
She married John "Sonny" Cain October 30, 1949 and together they were blessed with ten children. They raised their family in the house across the street from where she grew up and shared 49 years of marriage until Sonny's death in 1998.
As a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and a member of the Third Order of Saint Francis, Pat was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith. She loved praying the rosary, attending daily mass and watching EWTN Catholic Network. Her voicemail greeting began with "Praise the Lord" and her favorite sayings were "Jesus loves you", "Thank you Jesus" and "Jesus has blessed me more than anyone I know".
From a young age, she was an artist. She spent years enjoying watercolor and oil painting in the art studio in her home, where she shared her talent by teaching art lessons to many students. She often took art classes at ASU, creating both serious and whimsical clay sculptures. She taught art lessons to the blind and was featured on the Texas Country Reporter for this remarkable work. In addition to her love for painting, she had a passion for crocheting beautiful items for anyone in need and had a special place in her heart for preemie babies, crocheting hundreds of beanies for them.
Pat was known for her quick wit and fun-loving nature. She spent hours square dancing like a pro, always bringing energy and joy to the dance floor. She enjoyed both small and large family gatherings, often spending hours playing dominoes or card games. Her laughter and competitive spirit added warmth and fun to every game. Her twinkling brown eyes would laugh at you as she played a card that hurt you more than it helped her. Many laughs and joyful moments were shared around kitchen tables.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Michael Cain, grandson Daniel Armijo, sister Adeola Lindeman and brother-in-law Truman Lindeman, brothers Larry Crochet and John Crochet, nephew Steve Crochet, and niece Cheryl Ikegami.
She is survived by her sons John Jr. and wife Elodia, Joe Cain, Jim Cain and wife Janice, all of San Angelo; and by her daughters Dianna Cate and husband Steve of Grape Creek, Theresa Cain of San Angelo, Janice Turner and husband George of Corpus Christi, Clare Smith of Carlsbad, Marye Richardson of Water Valley and Carol Cain of Carlsbad. She is also survived by her Godchild Mary Lynette Lindeman of Arizona, 16 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Patricia Crochet of Granite Shoals, and 11 nieces and nephews and their spouses.
