Frank Allen Vogt Jr was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on March 8, 1937 to Frank A. Vogt and Rose Elizabeth (Eppler) Vogt.
He graduated from Linsly Military Institute in 1954. He met Janet L. (Evans) at a local teenage dance and they became dance partners and very close friends. They dance together for the next 65 years. They were married July 13, 1958 and moved to Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana.
Besides Great Falls, they lived in New Haven Ct, Key West, FL, Clark Air Base in the Philippines, Taipei, Taiwan, and San Angelo, TX. Buck returned to Yale University in New Haven Ct, for intermediate Chinese language training and then to Goodfellow Air Force Base to attend cryptologic training.
The first of their two sons, Mark Allen Vogt was born in the Shannon Hospital on September 11, 1960. Buck was then sent to Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. Jan joined him there and then they went to Shu Lin Kou Air Station in Tai Pei, Taiwan. At Taiwan Naval Air Station their second son, Gary Lin Vogt was born on July 18, 1964. In 1965 they returned to Goodfellow Air Force Base. Buck taught in the language section until after he graduated from the US Security Service NCO Academy and later became a Communications Instructor at the Academy.
Buck retired from the US Air Force in April 1976, and then obtained his Real Estate license and opened his own real estate office called Buck Vogt Realty in 1978. Jan got her Broker license and joined him in 1980. They learned Country/Western dancing in the 1980’s and soon began to teach it. They taught in several local schools, night clubs and at Angelo State University’s Adult Continuing Education Classes. At last count they had taught well over 700 people to dance. They competed both locally, in Kerrville and the Austin area in the Senior Games for those over 55 years old and won 12 medals in the Two Step, Waltz and Swing categories which resulted in 12 medals. They were also part of the group that brought Little League Baseball to San Angelo in the early 1970’s. Buck was the first secretary of Little League Baseball in San Angelo in early 1970. Buck has also served on the Board of Directors of both the San Angelo Association of Realtors and the San Angelo Apartment Association. They have been members of Angelo Civic Theater since 2003. They have been in 14 plays and Buck designed the current volunteer usher program.
