Charles Dittman, 71, of Big Lake passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Glen Rest Cemetery with Pastor David Alaman of Hillside Christian Church, officiating. There will not be a public viewing for Mr. Dittman. Areangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Charles was born on October 3, 1952 in Fort Stockton to Don and Erma Jean Rollins Dittman. In his early adult years, he worked construction in central Texas, then returning to west Texas to work in the oilfield where he would retire in 2019 as a lease operator. He also served as a Reserve Deputy for the Ward County Sheriff's Office. Most people knew Charles as a tough, hardheaded, but fair, man's man; but those closest to him knew him as kindhearted, thoughtful, and caring to those he loved. Charles lived to sacrifice for the betterment of his family. Many people called him Pop's because of his generosity. He loved fishing, hunting, watching old westerns, and listening to music from the 60's. He married his soulmate Kathy on June 8, 1996 in Big Lake.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Ruby Chipman.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy of the home; four children, Steven Dittman and wife Sondra of Big Lake, Robie Subia and wife Alisha of San Angelo, Erica Subia of Big Lake and Terry Dittman of Temple; a brother and sister, Don Dittman, Jr. of Big Lake and
Donna Chipman and husband George of Salado; numerous grandchildren; and the apple of his eye, great granddaughter, Jayanna.
