Raymond Bernard Kadlacek, 94, of Wall, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, in San Angelo. Raymond was born July 9, 1930, in Westphalia, Texas to William Louis and Elizabeth Reinders Kadlacek. He grew up in Westphalia and moved to the Olfen and Rowena communities as a small child. He attended Eola School through the ninth grade and had to quit to help his family on the farm.
He was drafted in the U.S. Marine Corps on March 27, 1952, in the Fifth Recruit Training Battalion at Camp Pendleton at San Diego, CA. He was honorably discharged on March 27, 1954, and was assigned to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve until March 27, 1960.
He met and later married Leona Marie Schwertner on April 26, 1958, in San Angelo, and they spent 66 beautiful years together. Raymond and Leona lived and farmed all their lives in the Wall Community. He was an active member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. He sang in the Youth Choir when he was younger and then the Church Choir and the Men's Choir. He was also a member the St. Ambrose Knights of Columbus.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Elizabeth Kadlacek,his brother, Louis, his brother James, and two brother in laws, Joe Schwartz and Daniel Hirt.
He is survived by his wife, Leona M. Kadlacek, of Wall; his children: Susan Copenhaver and husband, Larry of Conway, AR, Connie Perkins and husband, Damon of Lampasas, TX, Glenn Kadlacek and wife, Linda of Katy, TX, Joyce Graham and husband, Marty of Rocksprings, TX, and Janice Ross and husband, Johnny Ross, Jr. of Mansfield, TX; his grandchildren: Danis Copenhaver, Lindsay Copenhaver, Ashley Langley and husband, Uriah, Bryce Perkins and wife Courtney, Kendra Kadlacek, Tristan Granzin and wife, Rachael, Jordyn Fischer and husband, Joshua, Grayson Graham and wife, Sydney, Johnny Ross Ill and wife, Tori, Brittany Sibley and husband, Eric, and Bethany Neufeldt and husband, Tanner; ten great-grandchildren, Elo Copenhaver, Brett Copenhaver, Elias Langley, Aubree Granzin, Liam Granzin, Cadence Granzin, Addyson Fischer, Emersyn Fischer, Jedidiah Fischer, and Brooks Neufeldt; two sisters, Rose Marie Schwartz and Elsie Hirt and numerous nieces and nephews.
Raymond was a loving husband, father and grandfather who devoted his life to his family and friends and loved his community. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him!
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 2:00 PM at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be grandchildren Tristan Granzin, Bryce Perkins, Grayson Graham, Joshua Fischer, Beau Carr, Uriah Langley.
