Morgan Lee Westbrook Sr., to all that loved him he was Papa, passed away at the age of 91 early Friday morning surrounded by family.
Morgan was born to Gordon B. Westbrook and Mamie Posey Westbrook on April 18, 1933, in San Angelo, TX. Morgan and his family lived in the Grape Creek Community, and he graduated from Water Valley High School. He went on to serve in our nation's armed forces as a marine. Before he went on to serve our country he had met the love of his life, Wanda King. They were married on October 14, 1953, and lived a long and beautiful life together with 63 years of marriage. Wanda proceeded him in death on December 21, 2016. They are now reunited in the glorious kingdom of heaven. They had three boys, Morgan Lee Westbrook, Jr., Jerry Westbrook and Weldon Westbrook.
Morgan is survived by his son Weldon Westbrook and wife Karen, daughter in laws Mary Westbrook and Shari Westbrook, brother Bill Westbrook and wife Linda and their children Lori and Lezlyi. His siter, Wanda and husband Leslie Johnson, and their children, Bennet, Scott, Romonda, and Anna. His beloved grandchildren Kristy Westbrook, Kacey Doucet and husband Cody, Jason Westbrook and wife Maegan, Jacci Westbrook, Greg Westbrook and wife Tiffany, Matthew Westbrook, Shawna Cortex and husband Adrian, Stacy Leroy Westbrook, Tracy Westbrook and husband Archie Gandy and Zachary Westbrook. Nephew Gordie, niece Jan Sheffy and her children, Ward and Wes. He was also blessed with 22 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild who he loved being able to watch them grow up.
Morgan is proceeded in death by his loving bride Wanda, Westbrook, two sons Morgan Westbrook and Jerry Westbrook, daughter in law Elizabeth Westbrook, grandson Justin Westbrook, granddaughter in law Tracy Westbrook, nephew Bill Henry Westbrook, brother Gordon Lewis Westbrook and wife Willie and sister Gearldine Ward and husband JD, and his nephews David and Jack.
Morgan worked for many years at Western Mattress in San Angelo before going on to work at City Lumber. He continued his career there until he retired from the workforce. He was always a hardworking loving family man. Morgan to his family was Papa and he was so deeply loved by all of them. He was the shoulder to cry on or the person you went to when you needed advice. He was such a truly kind soul that brought such kindness to so many people.
Visitation will be on Friday September 13, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Harper Funeral Home located at 2606 Southland Blvd in San Angelo, TX. We will lay this wonderful soul to rest on Saturday September 14, 2024, at 10:00 A.M at Grape Creek Baptist Church located at 9781 Grape Creek Rd, in Grape Creek, TX. The graveside service will be directly after at the Grape Creek Cemetery located at 11368 Grape Creek Cemetery Rd. in Grape Creek, TX.
