Wilma Bradley, 101, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, August 15, 2024. She was born on October 13, 1922 to Harry and Rhoda Foster. She graduated from San Angelo High School in 1940. She married William H Bradley, Jr on December 21, 1940. She lived a long, full and rich life. Wilma worked at Montgomery Wards for 18 years where she was able to combine two things she loved; talking to people and selling shoes! She also loved her job at Angelo State University where she worked in the cafeteria and snack bar for 35 years. Every summer she would say she was going to retire, but when August came around, she was right back at work because "her kids would miss her!" In addition to her job, she loved to sew, needlepoint, cook, garden, read and watch her westerns. Willie Nelson was her favorite musician, and she finally saw him at her very first concert at 100 years old. She was an animal lover and would feed anything that came into her yard. She loved butterflies and bright colors, so you would always be able to find her house by the lake because it was either bright orange or yellow with her butterflies on the side. Wilma loved to travel, and did frequently, but she would always tell anyone that San Angelo was home. Her last several years were spent with family in Fort Worth and Waco where she was able to create many memories with her great and great-great grandchildren. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of 4 generations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William H Bradley, Jr; parents, Harry and Rhoda Foster; daughter, Connie Barrington; son-in-law, Richard Burney; grandsons, James H Burney and Bradley D Burney; great-grandson, Douglas Harris; siblings, grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Burney; granddaughters, Donna Mulcahy (Patrick) and Melissa Burney; granddaughters-in-law, Sonya Burney (James) and Joanna Burney (Bradley); great-grandchildren, Chance Young (Clyde), Whitney Barrington, Joshua Burney, Shiloh Barton (Kade), Jacob Burney (Andrea), Justyn Burney, Shelby Powell (Jacob), Hannah Burney, Meagan Railey; great-great grandchildren, Dathan Ingram (Christina), Ewan Ingram, Amelia Barrington, William Young, Cheyenne Burney, Knox Barton, Kyler Burney, Siena Powell, Sophia-Mae Barton, Casey Burney, Lincoln and Lennix Cluck, Grady Powell and Daisy Burney; niece, Marsha Kay Moncrief Tuma; and numerous other family members.
A very special thank you to LaToya Hazelwood, who was more than a caretaker for Wilma over the last 2 years. She was truly a blessing and a friend to Wilma, as well as a part of our family. Our family cannot thank her enough for the love she gave. We would also like to give a special thank you to the Texas Life Hospice team for making the last 2 years as good as they were. You are all angels among us and we could not have done this without you.
