Sue attended and graduated from Canton High School in 1949 and, afterwards, attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University for 1 1/2 years. During her junior high school years, she met the love of her life, Roy “Bud” Hooten. They married on January 12, 1951, in Oklahoma City, OK.

She also enjoyed spending time outdoors whether it was swimming or working in the yard and garden. Sue was a servant at heart, caring for her mother and her aunt in her later years.
Characterized by her great faith in God, Sue served in various churches throughout her life including children’s Sunday School, Youth Group sponsor, and Christian Women’s Fellowship (CWF). She was known for her beautiful soprano voice and always participated in church choirs, often singing solo parts during services or productions. Sue always stood strong in her faith and along with Bud, instilled a strong legacy of faith in her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sue always had a ready “Have A Blessed Day” for anyone that God put in her daily path.
Sue was a member of Putnam City Christian Church in Oklahoma City, OK, before she moved to San Angelo, TX in 2018. Once in San Angelo, she was a resident of the Baptist Retirement Community for several years. She enjoyed her neighborhood, often taking daily morning walks with close friends.
