Trinidad (Trine) Martinez Velasquez, age 94, of San Angelo, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones at home as she passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was born October 26, 1929 in Colorado City, Texas to Refugio and Benita Martinez. Trine grew up in the small town of Toyah, Texas up through her adulthood until she met the love of her life, Robert Velasquez. They eloped and were married in Carlsbad, New Mexico in 1951. They raised their family in Pecos, Texas during their early years of marriage and later moved to San Angelo, Texas in 1968 where they continued to raise their four boys.
Trine later worked at Ethicon for 19 years from 1970 to 1989. After retirement she enjoyed being a homemaker and spending time with her grandchildren.
Trine was a devout Catholic, and could be found spending time helping with certain ministries at her church. She served as a Eucharistic Minister along with her husband and singing in the Spanish choir for many years. She was loved by many for her humorous wit. Trine was known as a lovely person and will be missed by many.
Trine is preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Refugio Martinez; her siblings, Frank Martinez, Sr., Ruben Martinez, Moses Martinez, Sr., Anita Pina, Delia McKee; her son David Velasquez.
Those left to cherish her memory are Charlie Velasquez and wife Patricia of San Angelo; son Thomas Velasquez of San Angelo; son Arthur Martinez and wife Berta of Monahans, Texas; along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; Marky her beloved dog.
The family would like to give thanks to St. Gabriel’s Hospice and Palliative Care and special thanks to Debbie, Stephanie, and Oneida, all for their loving and tender care shown to Trine.
A rosary will be held Monday, July 8, 2024 at 6:00 pm at Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The interment will follow after the service at Calvary Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Jason Velasquez, Gabriel Velasquez, Arthur Robert Martinez, Thomas Martinez, Evan Velasquez, and Joe David Alaniz.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Trine’s name to St. Gabriel’s Hospice and Palliative Care, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or The American Cancer Society.
