Our beloved son, brother, friend, DP, and Pera went home to be with our Lord and Savior on July 2, 2024, at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo, Texas.
Dustin Patino was born January 20, 1983 in Kerrville, Texas. Dustin was raised in Rocksprings, Texas until junior high. When he was going into his eighth-grade year, Dustin and his father, Juan Patino, made the move to Sonora. Dustin considered Sonora his home where he made countless friends who eventually became family. During DP’s senior year at Sonora High School, his football team went an astonishing 15-0, finishing the perfect football season with the 3A state title. The memories made during this time were some of the proudest and happiest moments of his life. Dustin graduated from Sonora High School in 2001.
After high school, Dustin worked numerous jobs in the Sonora and San Angelo area. Dustin had joined the PaulAnn Baptist church in San Angelo where he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. The congregation opened their arms to Dustin where he was a very active member. Dustin was a greeter and everyone knew him and loved his beautiful smile and contagious laugh. He brought immeasurable joy into everyone’s life. Dustin never met a stranger. He truly lived by the motto, “Tomorrow’s problems are for tomorrow”; he enjoyed everyday to its fullest. He loved deeply and was always only a phone call away.
Dustin is preceded in death by his grandmother Flora Baldillez and Welos Fortino Patino.
Dustin is survived by his father, Juan Patino and wife Amanda, his mother, Hortencia Baldiez, and siblings Juan Patino Jr, Michael Patino, Jeffery Patino, Kitty Gonzales, and Gabriel Gonzales.
Pallbearers include Juan Patino Jr, Michael Patino, Jeffery Patino, Russell Socha, Ben Brooks, Trey Johnson, Chris Martin and Riley Crain. Honorary pallbearers are Cody Driver, Dustin Martin, Jake Trainer, Cole Cearley, Justin Steadman, Rene Martinez, and Kelly Martin.
A service celebrating Dustin’s precious life will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, 10 am at the Sonora cemetery where friends and family are invited to remember a life, although short, that was truly a gift to us all.
Dustin left us way too soon but his legacy and unwavering friendship will live on forever. In lieu of flowers, there is an account set up in Dustin’s name at the Sonora Bank to help with the cost of his service and burial.
