Gustavo Santos Campos, known affectionately as Tavo, passed away at the age of 79 on June 25, 2024, in San Angelo, TX. Born on June 3, 1945, in Del Rio, Texas, he lived a rich and fulfilling life marked by his service, faith, and love for his family.
Tavo was drafted into the Air Force during the Vietnam era and was very proud of his service. Following his military service, Tavo worked in the oil and gas industry as a pumper, where he dedicated over 30 years.
Tavo had a variety of hobbies that kept him busy and fulfilled. He was an avid solver of crossword puzzles, loved scratch-off lotto tickets, and was an enthusiastic Dallas Cowboys fan. He also had an impeccable green thumb. Most importantly, he cherished his faith in God and spending time with his family, particularly his grandsons and the family pets, who brought immense joy into his life.
Tavo leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife, Leticia Yoela Campos; his daughter, Yolanda Denise Mota and her husband, Dustin Edward Mota; his sons, Gustavo Manuel Campos and Joe Michael Campos along with his wife, Lisa; his grandsons, Nicholas Jody Mota and Joe Michael Campos II.; and his sisters, Herminia Ramirez from Ozona, TX, and Dolores Maldonado from Del Rio, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sixta Orta Campos and Pedro Campos and numerous siblings, family and friends.
Services to honor Tavo's life will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Sonora, TX, on Friday, June 28 at 10:00 AM with internment to follow at Sonora Cemetery. Love's Funeral Home in Sonora, TX, is assisting the family with arrangements. Tavo will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew him.
