Sharon Darlene Dintleman Gauwain was born to Herman Dintleman and Zora Griffith Dintleman on February 17, 1945, and passed away in her home on June 15, 2024, at the age of 79. Sharon was a beloved Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Wife, Mother, Mother-in-Law, Nana, Nurse, and an amazing Friend to so many.
Sharon married Hubert Gauwain and together they had four children – Barry Gauwain, Sherri Gauwain Sanderfur, Terry Gauwain, and Race Gauwain. Sharon was an amazing mother. She had a special ability to keep up with all her boys with the help of Sherri. Together they were determined for those boys to have everything they needed. Sharon was also a mom to all her kid’s friends. They always had a houseful of kids coming and going. Sharon made countless Ham Sandwiches and bowls of homemade Salsa for all of them along with her famous sweet tea. Her home was a safe place for many. While raising her family she worked at the San Angelo State School for many years as a nurse. She loved her career and helping to care for others. Her work ethic was unmatched as a nurse and as a mother. She carried all her burdens in life with beautiful strength.
Sharon became a Nana and a great Nana. She was full of love for Marcus, Kyli, Kelton, Kaiden, Devyn, Michael, Cameron, Jax, Trace, Atalie, Ryland, and Mackenzie. She was like a mother to Marcus and cared for him deeply. She loved to make things fun for her grandkids. Anything from creating treasure hunts, buying little purses for the girls, watching football games and just spending time with them all.
Sharon lived most of her life in Texas except for a short stay in Northern California to spend time with family there. Sharon loved to have lots of plants, she loved to have gardens, shopping Goodwill, thrifting, and lunch at Franco’s with her friends. One of her favorite things to do was to ride around on her buggy in Walmart buying groceries and meeting strangers. She talked to everybody. Just a few of her best friends to mention for sure were Ella Fesperman, Mary Henry, Connie Whitacre, and Beverly Baisden.
Sharon especially loved her dogs, Sugar, Harley, and Judy. And she left behind her stray cat that she took in and named Mama Cat. She was an amazing cook and kept a very clean house. She took pride in everything that she was ever responsible for.
Sharon loved the Lord. She always talked about the “Good Lord.” She wasn’t afraid of leaving this world. She knew where she was going, and she looked forward to being reunited with her mother, whom she spoke about often. She also coined the term “God love em” when she encountered those who were not very pleasant. She kept us all laughing. She was witty and wise for sure.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Zora Dintleman, her siblings, Adrian Row, Timothy Row, Agnes Jane Dintleman, Danny Dintleman, Guy Dintleman, Joan Munier-Williams, and her daughter, Sherri Gauwain Sandefur.
