Betty Isabel Ford, 73, of San Angelo, TX died May 31, 2024, from complications from dementia.
Betty was born August 8, 1950, in Taylor, TX to Morris and Lucille Isabel. Betty graduated from Central High School in 1968. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree from ASU in 1977.
Betty married Mike Ford on November 27, 1981, and their daughter, Elizabeth, was born on July 3, 1987.
Betty’s passion was advocating for the elderly. She began her career at Concho Valley City of Governments where she became the Director of the Area Agency on Aging (AAA). Betty completed her career at the Department of Agency and Disability Services in Austin. Betty established various programs while at AAA – Foster Grandparents, Senior Companion and Senior Spring Fling.
Betty was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Junior League, Master Gardener, and several book clubs. She was a vocal and proud democrat.
Betty enjoyed reading, following politics, visiting presidential libraries, playing with her grandchildren, watching Lifetime movies, and attempting arts and crafts, and enjoying a cold drink sitting next to or in any body of water. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Tallmon and husband Will; grandchildren, Memphis Belle, Zadock Michael, and Livy James, all of San Angelo; siblings, Aaron Isabel, Deborah Huntsucker, and Dave Isabel and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, June 29, 2024, at First Christian Church in San Angelo. The family is requesting that everyone in attendance wear Betty’s favorite color, coral/orange, and to bring with them their favorite story to the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Christian Church or Hospice of San Angelo.
