Neva Jo Brown of San Angelo, Texas passed away on May 27, 2024. She was born January 5, 1931, in Midland, Texas to Roy and Gertrude Lee. She was proceeded in death by her husband Bill R. Brown, her parents, as well as one sister, Alberta Snyder of Lamesa, Texas and one brother, Donald Lee of Midland, Texas. She is survived by two sons, Gordon Brown and wife Charlene of San Angelo, and Bill M. Brown and wife Linda of San Angelo. In addition, Neva was blessed with two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of the Houston area. She was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church having been an active member wherever she found herself living throughout her long life. She was a member of the Glen Meadows Baptist Church of San Angelo for the last several years of her life.
Neva was a Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and teacher of young people. She taught in the school systems of Texas and New Mexico over a lengthy career. She was a proud member of the first graduating class of Angelo State University back in the 1960’s and held bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She was a published author and had traveled to Europe to see the sights she referenced in teaching her students. She looked forward to living a full life everyday with her approach that we should all “bloom where we are planted”. She leaves behind a legacy of a Christian family and many well-educated young people to carry on her work of making the world a better place.
