Willie never met a stranger, at age 5 he started auctioneering at box socials and at his father’s sale barn in Longmont. He said he knew from that age he would follow in his father’s footsteps. Shortly after his marriage to Jackie his father passed, and he took over the business at 17. He grew the business even bigger when he added farm equipment and machinery to his Auction lists. Willie was known to get the job done and not linger he always had the crowd excited to see what was going to be said next. The local morning radio station had him on daily to announce livestock prices and news. When his kids were growing up, he was involved in events for Little Britches and 4H and many other things.
After Cowboy Willie retired, he spent countless hours with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. If he wasn’t watching a softball game or another sport event, he was teaching his great grandchildren something special about life. One thing is certain, he will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
