Lois Irene Sanders Wilkerson, 82, of San Angelo went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 9th, 2024. Lois was born September 21, 1941, in Beeville, Texas to Horace Olin and Laura Wright Sanders. She grew up in Beeville and graduated from Beeville High School. After high school, she attended East Texas Baptist College where she met and later married the love of her life, James Edward Wilkerson, Jr. They were married on August 17, 1962. Later, Lois attended Bee County College where she received her Associates degree in 1968.
Lois was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family and loved seeking God’s word. She shared a life of ministry with her husband Jim and together they served their church and others with a great faith and a tremendous passion for Jesus. Jim and Lois shared 62 beautiful years together serving the Lord and raising a family.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Laura Wilkerson Ledesma, and one sister, Carol Ann Keintz. She is survived by her loving husband James E. “Jim” Wilkerson, Jr., of San Angelo; one brother, James Sanders of Bryan, TX; her children, Eddie and Carrie Wilkerson, of Arlington; Lora and James Bird, of San Angelo; her grandchildren, Mark Wilkerson, Emily Beaudette, Catie Wilkerson, Lily Wilkerson, Loran Bird, Jacob Bird and Noah Bird; and a host of other family members and close friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M., Sunday, May 12th at Harper Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Monday, May 13th at 10:00 A.M. at Harris Avenue Baptist Church with Bobby Roger officiating. The burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers for the service will be Mark Wilkerson, Jacob Bird, Noah Bird, Allen Stover, Bobby Ripple and Sam Shanks. Honorary Pallbearers for the service will be The Hounds of Heaven.
