Martha Ziemba Dosiek, age 95, of San Angelo, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2024 with family at her side praying and praising God for her very blessed life.
Martha was born in Utica, New York on January 14, 1929 to Stanley and Eugenia (Maciejewski) Ziemba. Mom was the first of nine children. She graduated from Proctor High School in 1946, the same day her youngest brother Gene was born. This was a story she told frequently, going to the hospital in her cap and gown to see her mother. Mom was a dedicated daughter and sister, helping to care for her siblings.
First working at the five and dime store and as a key punch operator at Utica Mutual for 10 years, she provided special gifts for her brothers and sisters. This joy of giving continued throughout her life. Never forgetting a birthday, anniversary, or graduation, Mom loved to shop for special gifts for her 5 children and their spouses, 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and others who touched her heart with a need. Mom was blessed with a tremendous faith and dedication to her Lord, Mother Mary, and her church.
Martha met Anthony Joseph Dosiek at a dance in 1955 and they were married on July 28, 1956, in Utica, New York beginning her 28 years of faithful service as an Air Force spouse. They continued dancing and enjoying many forms of music for over 60 years. Together they raised 5 children. They retired in San Angelo in 1978 and this became her forever home. She wore many hats during her life of service and love. She taught her daughters how to crochet and sew at a young age. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters for 35 years serving in multiple offices. She was a dedicated member of Holy Angels Catholic Church since 1978 where she sang in the choir. Martha provided altar care at Holy Angels until she was 86 years old. She also truly enjoyed RVing with Dad in the Three Rivers Sam's Club and the Military Retirees RV Club.
Mom lived her life to the fullest everyday just admitting in 2023 that she was "slowing down." She made the time to talk with her children and grandchildren when they called and that special time with her will be greatly missed. Martha's joy each day was saying her rosary and attending daily mass, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. With her son being the only family member residing in San Angelo, she put forth the greatest effort to travel to Brownfield, Bridge City, Pearland, Fort Worth, Durango, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, California, and Massachusetts to share her love with her family.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Anthony J. Dosiek; her brothers, Stanley Ziemba and Edward Ziemba; her sisters, Alice Ziemba, Clara Wilson and Elizabeth Sobieraj.
