Rachel Susan "Sue" Baucham Lang Williams, 81, of San Angelo passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024 surrounded by her family.
Public viewing will be from 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM Friday, April 12, 2024 at Robert Massie Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5:30 - 7:00 PM on Friday, April 12, 2024 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 13, 2024 at St. Paul Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Rachel Susan(Sue) Baucham Lang Williams was born on April 29, 1942 to Fountain and Gradie Lee Jackson Baucham in McCamey.(3rd oldest child) Sue attended school in McCamey at Dunbar Elementary, Jr High and graduated from Dunbar High School. She united with South Union Baptist Church at 11years old and baptized. As a faithful servant, she served as Sunday School Clerk, Youth Leader and Choir Soloist for many years. She was a member of the "The Miss Ebony Club" (Stokes/Parker District Black Women's Club) Sue excelled in academics on state level and participated in all sports offered by Dunbar High School.
Sue married Hurseful Lang in McCamey in 1959 and moved to Mesa, Arizona as he served in the United States Airforce. In 1969, she returned to TX and made San Angelo her home with her children. Sue immediately united with St Paul Baptist Church. She attended San Angelo Business College. She worked at San Angelo State Supported Living Center two years. After a short stay in Fairbanks, Alaska, Ft Walton Beach, Florida and Birmingham, Alabama she returned to San Angelo in 1978. Sue reunited with St Paul Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health declined. Sue enjoyed singing in the choir, instructing art classes in Vacation Bible School and always cherished serving our Lord with her numerous gifts mostly at St Paul Baptist Church.
Sue married her best friend, lover and protector John Williams Jr in Spring 1983. They spent 27 years together helping the San Angelo Community prosper.
She leaves 32 survivors to always remember how much she loved her family. Sue's five children who cherish her precious memory are Patricia White Thompson, Rochelle Lang, Paul Lang, Sabrina Lang and Cecelia Lang. Sue's forever in her heart 6 grandchildren, Stephen DeWitt, Marcia Jones (Felsia), Terry White, Gary White, Mark Brown and Erica Lang. She adored her 12 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grands. Sue is survived by 4 brothers and 2 sisters, numerous first cousins she considered sisters and brothers.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, John Williams Jr, parents, Fountain and Gradie Lee Baucham and oldest brother, Donald Leonard Jackson Baucham.
