Gila H. Gonzales, 78, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Public viewing will be 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM, with a Prayer service being at 6:00 PM Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel. Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Bethel Assembly Church with Pastor Israel Flores, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gonzales was born September 1, 1945 in O'Donnell to Isidro and Sista Hernandez. She has been a lifelong resident of San Angelo since. Gila married Henry "Enrique" Gonzales on April 17, 1960 in San Angelo. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1988. She was a homemaker. Gila loved dancing and cooking. She was loving and "motherly" to everyone. Gila was a member of Bethel Assembly Church and loved going to Church. Gila never failed to call her children and wish them "Goodnight and God Bless You".
Survivors include her special companion, Johnny Pena of San Angelo; her four children, Sandy Martinez and husband Johnny, Henry Gonzales, Jr., Lisa Ybarra, and Irma Martinez and husband Edward all of San Angelo; three sisters, Elida Rodriguez, Minga Delos Santos, and Isabel Rivera and husband Herman all of San Angelo; nine grandchildren, Johnny Martinez, Jr., Erica Martinez and husband Sammy, Monica Soto and husband Gustavo, Rachel Barrientos, Joe Munoz, Jr. and wife Ashley, Ricky Martinez, Daniel Arroyo and wife Megan, Veronica Arroyo, and Jonathan Munoz; 27 great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, and nephews. Gila was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Danny Hernandez; two sisters, Seferina Herrera, and Sofia Lavaris; a granddaughter, Chrishilda Gonzales; a son-in-law, Freddy Ibarra; and a daughter-in-law, Debra Gonzales.
The family would like to thank Dr. Franco Rodriguez, the hospice nurses,a nd her caregiver, Sarah Gamez for their loving care for Gila.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Martinez, Jr., Joe Munoz, Jr., Daniel Arroyo, Jonathan Munoz, Izayah Rodriguez, and Joe Edward Munoz.
