Candelario E. Puente, age 90, of San Angelo, Texas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. He was one of eleven children born to Roman and Paulina Puente on February 2, 1934 in Mexico. Growing up in Mexico, Candelario started working at an early age. He married the love of his life, Petra Regalado on July 4, 1953. Candelario was a hardworking man throughout his lifetime. He worked as a farmer travelling many miles all the way from Nebraska to South Texas. He spent most of his life in the surrounding areas of San Angelo, working in Runnels County, Concho County, and Tom Green County. Candelario was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His passion was music and dancing. Candelario is preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Paulina Puente, his wife, Petra Puente; his sons, Candelario Puente, Jr., Miguel Puente, and Homero Puente, and his daughter, Nora Perez; he is also preceded in death by three brothers, Antonio Puente, Jose Puente, Santiago Puente, and three sisters, Marcela Lopez, Gregoria Cadena and Maria Magdalena Santiago.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Emilio Puente and wife Celia of Miles, Paulina Ruiz and husband Luis of Paint Rock, and Juan David Puente of San Angelo; his grandchildren, Emilio Puente Jr, Homero J. Puente and wife Jaqlyn, Priscilla Kelly and husband Steve, Theresa Pratt and husband William, Tina Mendez and husband Vicente, Flora Day and husband Anthony, Laura Moore and husband Kyle, Luis Ruiz Jr., Gabriel Puente and wife Kera, Steven Puente, Bianca Gutierrez and husband Aaron; his siblings, sisters Beatrice Hernandez, Francisca Hernandez, Elodia Lopez and brother Florentino Puente. He is also survived by 19 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Emilio Puente Jr., Homero J. Puente, Gabriel Puente, Steven Puente, Luis Ruiz Jr., and Kyle Moore. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tristan Puente, Joe David Merrifield, Nicolas Ruiz, Henry Ruiz, River Puente, Justin Bartman-Gerdis, Nathan Puente, Nicholas Puente, Isaiah Puente, Elijah Puente, Jimi Gomez, and Julian Knix.
A rosary for Candelario will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 9:30 AM at Johnson's Funeral Home, 435 West Beauregard Avenue, San Angelo, Texas, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM. Candelario will be laid to rest in Miles Cemetery, Miles, Texas.
