New Iberia– Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Christabel “Christy” Sauer Hutson, 83, on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 5:00PM at the David Funeral Home Chapel of New Iberia with Brother Geran Maples officiating.
Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of New Iberia on Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 1:00PM until the time of the service.
Visitation will continue at Love Funeral Home in Eldorado, TX on Friday, March 22, 2023 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 9:00AM at the Mertzon Hwy Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Schleicher County Cemetery in Eldorado, TX.
A native of Eldorado, TX and resident of Sugar Land, TX, Mrs. Hutson passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Brookdale Assisted Living of Lafayette surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Hutson lived a life devoted to education, spending over three decades teaching middle school math and mentoring students as a Mathcounts coach. Beyond the classroom, she found immense joy in the roles of homemaker, gardener, seamstress, and cook, skillfully weaving love and care into every aspect of her life. Her family held a special place in her heart, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she cherished as "Grammy." Mrs. Hutson was a pillar of support as a coach's wife, attending games for over 50 years, proudly following Coach Rock's teams with unwavering dedication and love.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lawrence “Rock” Hutson; children, Rick Hutson and wife Penny of Youngsville, Abby Tate and husband Stewart of Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren, Nicholas Hutson of New Orleans, Gabrielle Henderson and husband Wesley, Jacob Phillips, Brianna Phillips, and Grace Phillips all of Salt Lake City, UT; great grandchildren, Ella, Bodie, Wade, and Darcy Henderson all of Salt Lake City, UT; sisters, Linda Fisher of Eldorado, TX, Nan Mitchell and husband Ron of Longview, TX, and Phyllis Sauer of Eldorado, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clemens and Winnie Mae Sauer.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family would like to thank her caregivers: Vanessa Liles, the staff of Brookdale Assisted Living of Lafayette and especially Mary Comeaux for their care and compassion.
