After suffering the loss of her mother at the age of 2, Trudy grew up on the family farm near Childress with her father, Reice Hood McNeal, older sister, Marge, and younger brother, Homer.
Trudy married Billy Couch on Dec. 28, 1950, in Childress. The couple lived in numerous places throughout West Texas before settling in San Angelo. Trudy devoted her life to caring for her three children. Many hours were spent around the dinner table telling stories about her childhood on the farm. She loved the outdoors, especially growing flowers. She also enjoyed adventures such as collecting arrowheads near the Pecos River, collecting fossils and rocks on the San Saba River, camping in the Colorado mountains, and sightseeing in Virginia, among other places.
She was predeceased by parents Reice Hood and Margie Ila McNeal, sister Marge Jouett, and husband of 53 years, Billy Couch.
She is survived by three children, Steve Couch, Randy Couch, and Judy Dianne Fulghum, along with five grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and brother Homer McNeal.
