Adelina Ornelas Holguin, age 80, of San Angelo, Texas passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024.
She was born on April 2, 1943 in San Angelo to Jose Ornelas and Juaquina Galan. Adelina graduated from Central High School in 1961 and went on to receive her degree in Cosmetology from San Angelo College of Cosmetology. She opened her own salon at 3 locations, Nina's Kut N Kurl, and worked as beautician for 40+ years. Upon retiring from the hair setting, she went into private care and house cleaning, making friends along the way.
Adelina married the love of her life, Henry Holguin on June 15, 1963. Together, they raised a beautiful family. She was known as the family clown, always making people laugh with her jokes and her made up words.
Before becoming recently ill, Adelina took care of her mother, Juaquina "Mimo" Ornelas for over 20 years. She took great pride in the fact that "Mimo" reached the milestone of 100 years old. Adelina was the glue of our family and will always be remembered.
Adelina is preceded in death by her father, Jose Ornelas and her brother, Reynaldo Ornelas.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 60 years, Henry V. Holguin; her mother, Juaquina Ornelas; her children, Mariana Martinez and husband Mario; Joe Louis Holguin, and Vicente Holguin and wife Bertha; her grandchildren; Joe Anthony Holguin and wife Cierra, Illiana Martinez, John Henry Holguin, Xavier Martinez, Araceli Holguin, Melinda Holguin, and Ana Maria Holguin; her great grandchild, Luca Zander Holguin; her siblings, Estella Ibarra and husband Luis, Diana Ornelas (Albert Salazar), and Elsa Ornelas as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends that she loved dearly.
A rosary for Adelina will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 7:00 PM at Johnson's Funeral Home, 435 West Beauregard Avenue, San Angelo, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St Mary's Catholic Church, 11 West Avenue N, San Angelo, Texas. Adelina will be laid to rest in Knickerbocker Cemetery, Knickerbocker, Texas.
The family would like to send a special "thank you" to the nursing staff at San Angelo Shannon Memorial Hospital.
Her favorite passage in the bible is Ephesians 6:1-3 "Honor your father and mother; this is the 1st commandment" - We will do just that. Love you, mom. To God be the Glory, Heaven gained another angel that day.
