Peggy Earlene Bradley Barnett went home at 96 years and 3 days short of 2 months.
Mrs. Barnett was born January 7, 1928 in Plainview to Myrtle and Earl Bradley. Peggy being born 5 lbs. at birth, God had His plans for her to live a long and happy life and to share the good news about Jesus. Peggy started keeping books for the Water Valley basketball team in 1970. She kept them for all her children, all her grandchildren and for most of her great grandchildren. She later started keeping volleyball books as well. Three generations of her dedication to Water Valley sports. Peggy was a long time fixture in Water Valley. She was the face of Wildcat Pride Forever. She was Post Master at Water Valley from 1979 until her retirement in 1997. Peggy was a good and faithful member of Carlsbad Church of Christ.
Peggy is survived by her four children, Denise Barnett Copeland, Kassandra Barnett Minton, Derek Barnett and wife Julie, and Bradley Barnett all of Water Valley; six grandchildren, Kitna Foltz and husband CJ, Nicole Minton Baker and husband Andy both of Carlsbad, Wesley Copeland of San Angelo, Jarrod Minton and wife Melissa of Menard, Braxton Barnett of Des Moines, Iowa, and Paige Barnett of Water Valley; 9 great grandchildren, Keegan Foltz, Kynlea Foltz, Kalysta Minton-Holland, Sye Baker, Brooks Minton, Marc Minton, Brisa Minton, Amaryllis Minton, and Idalisa Minton; and two great-great granddaughters, Maliya and Kamilah; her sister and best friend, Wynona "Aunt Nonie" Lawrence of Odessa; her brother, Doyle Bradley and wife Patsy Kay of Grand Junction, Colorado; and three sisters-in -law, Carol Ann Bradley of Brownfield, Sarah Barnett and husband Curtis Davis of Abilene, and Nena Barnett Wilson of Novice; and many nieces and nephews for which they all remember Aunt Peggy's pies. Peggy was preceded in death by her Husband of 59 years, Glen M. Barnett; her parents, Earl and Myrtle Bradley, 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Public viewing will be from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM Friday March 8, 2024, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Minister Ed McCorkle, officiating. Burial will follow at Water Valley Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
