On Dec 12, 2023, Vera Gray passed away peacefully in her home of natural causes. Vera was born in Germany on February 26th, 1957 where she lived until the age of 12. After she moved, she moved to the United States with her mother (Fanni) and two brothers (Michael and James.)
She was preceded in death by her brother, James "Jimmy" Hord.
Vera leaves behind her mother, Fanni Harris of San Angelo. Her brother Michael "Mike" Hord and Wife, Rhonda of Florida. Her son, James Chance Gray of San Angelo and her grandson, Cayden James Gray to whom she adored and were her world.
Vera had several friends to which she considered family. All of whom can and will remember her by many things to be mentioned. Her love for the color purple. Her "man" the King of Country Himself; George Strait. She loved all Holidays. She without a doubt had plans for her close friends to decorate the house. There was not a shelf that was missed when it came to holiday decor. She loved any occasion to dress up in her dresses, flashy jewelry, and fancy jackets. She was always making a fuss about her outfit. She did not miss a birthday and often had little parties in her home: balloons, cake and the works. Vera had a contagious laugh that could often be heard when she was watching stand up comedy. On the other side, she was as hard headed as they come. When it was in her mind, that was what was going to happen one way or another.
Vera also leaves behind her dog, Precious. Which she could not be without. They had a love/love relationship. Both with a mutual dislike for stuffy sweaters. So many things to mention, Vera will be missed so much.
A celebration of life will be held, the day before her birthday on February 25th, 2024 in her home from 3pm-6pm on a come and go basis. Chance and family would love for anyone who would like to come to know that they are more than welcome.
